Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games – Year 9 Girls & Boys Basketball Super-Series Finals
 
Beauchamp College hosted the Year 9 Girls & Boys Basketball Super-Series Finals on Monday 10th February and Tuesday 11th February. 8 partnerships were represented in the Girls tournament; whilst the boys competition saw all 10 partnerships teams battle it out to be crowned County Champions.
 
Leicester Riders players Harrison Gamble and Rashad Hassan came down to both Super-Series Finals. They watched the potential Riders stars of the future play, awarding the medals and trophies to the winners during the presentations.
 
Lancaster School (East Leicester) took home the Year 9 Boys Title, beating Martin High School (South Charnwood) in the Final. Third place was tied between Bushloe High School (Oadby & Wigston) and Casterton Business & Enterprise College (Rutland).
 
The Girls final saw Sir Jonathan North (West Leicester) and Mount Grace High School (Hinckley & Bosworth) compete, with Sir Jonathan North taking away the Gold Medal. Martin High School (South Charnwood) took home the Bronze medal.
 
All the teams also compete for the ‘Spirit of the Games Values’ Award, which is awarded to the team who most encompasses the School Games Values of: Determination, Honesty, Passion, Respect, Self-Belief and Teamwork. Mount Grace School (Hinckley & Bosworth) won the Girls Award and Martin High School (South Charnwood) picked up the Boys Award.

The Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sainsbury’s School Games is open to all young people aged 5-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds in every school from across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
 
It provides schools with the chance to boost their existing work in school sport to create a year-round calendar of competition for all students and provides County, Regional and National pathways for our most talented athletes.
 
Through our 10 local School Sport & Physical Activity Networks (SSPANs), Levels 1 and 2 are delivered across 10 partnership areas within Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, by School Games Organisers (SGOs).
 
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) deliver on the Level 3 offer, organising and delivering a calendar of County Finals throughout the year in the form of School Games Super-Series Finals and School Games Championships.
