Tuesday May 20th saw Thomas Estley’s U13 Girls play in their 2nd National Cup Final, losing the same competition the previous year, they approached this final in a much more determined manner. Thomas Telford from Shropshire were the opponents in this year’s competition which was sponsored by Playstation.
It took 14 minutes for Thomas Estley to take the lead, a great clearance from Captain Sinead Samarczuk in defence was played into the path of top scorer Libby Smith, she was able to set up Imogen Hunt who slotted home from close range. 10 minutes later Imogen turned provider and set Libby up for her 73rd goal of the season. Thomas Estley continued to boss the game up to Half Time, but couldn’t increase their lead.
Thomas Telford tried to up their game in the second half, but Estley’s defence did their job very well, and continued to protect Maisie Miles in goal. It wasn’t long before Player of The Match Libby got Thomas Estley’s third goal, latching on to a great pass down the line by Gracie Kemp and cutting in to slot it home. A cross from the left from Eva Blockley-Orton saw Rhea Bailey slot in Estley’s fourth with 12 minutes to go. Telford got a consolation goal with 8 minutes to go, but it was too little too late. Thomas Estley were deserved champions showing fantastic team spirit throughout a very long season which has seen them travel all over the Country.
They are a magnificent group of Girls who really deserve this. They have been a pleasure to coach and have been fantastic ambassadors for the College.
