With over 1500 Schools entering throughout the whole of the UK and over 6400 teams alone in the U16 Girls category, a team of U16 Girls from Beauchamp College played stormingly well throughout the qualifying stages and made it through to the Centre Parcs National Schools Championships Finals 2014 on Sunday 11 May held at Centre Parcs, Sherwood Forest. It was an early start for the girls with a 7am meet at Beauchamp College for an 8.30 start, however the girls were keen and eager to get going. Upon arriving the girls realised they were in the top 9 teams in the country for their age group therefore realising how large the event was with some of the Team England badminton players attending for support and advice including, Sarah Walker and Andy Ellis.
The girls where drawn into Group 3 against Thorpe St Andrew School and Upton-by-Chester High School, who where last years winners! However, they did not let this phase them winning their first match against Thorpe St Andrew 5-0. The girls second match was very tough against Upton-by-Chester High School with some very close games, the girls played really well but lost 3-2.
Coming second in their group, this put the girls into round 2 where they where playing for 4th, 5th and 6th place against Millais School and Wallington High School for girls. The girls were outstanding and won both matches 4-1 and 5-0 consecutively. Leaving the girls finishing top of their second round group on 4th place.
This is an amazing achievement for the following girls Frannie Simpson, Jemima Kirk, Michelle Luo and Jennifer Decker.
