Last week saw Crown Hills Community College play host to 4 days of superb Indoor Cricket. East Leicester took home 3 of the Gold Medals, with Blaby & Harborough preventing them from a clean sweep! Shiv Thakor attended all four events, supporting the young athletes, offering advice, and even umpiring the U15 Boys Final!
The first evening saw Leicester Grammar School (Blaby & Harborough) take home the Gold Medal in the Under 13 Girls event, with Mount Grace School (Hinckley & Bosworth) taking home Silver and Martin High School (South Charnwood) finishing in third.
The East Leicester hat trick then began with Crown Hills Community College crowned Champions in the Under 15 Girls event. Mount Grace School (Hinckley & Bosworth) had to settle for Silver for the second night. Leicester Grammar School (Blaby & Harborough) beat Limehurst Academy (North Charnwood) in the third place playoff to take home Bronze.
Day 3 saw Rushey Mead School win the second Gold of the week for East Leicester, beating Ivanhoe College in the Under 13 Boys final and leaving them to take home the Silver medal. Loughborough Grammar School (Charnwood North) took the Bronze medal beating Gartree High School (Oadby & Wigston) in the third place playoff.
Crown Hills Community College did the Under 15’s double, taking home the Boys Gold medal and completing the East Leicester hat trick. Silver went to Long Field Academy (Melton), with Robert Smyth Academy (Blaby & Harborough) beating Babington Community College (West Leicester) in the third place playoff to take Bronze.
All the teams also compete for the ‘Spirit of the Games’ Award, which is awarded to the team who most encompasses the School Games Values of: Determination, Honesty, Passion, Respect, Self-Belief and Teamwork. The winners were.

The Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sainsbury’s School Games is open to all young people aged 5-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds in every school from across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
It provides schools with the chance to boost their existing work in school sport to create a year-round calendar of competition for all students and provides County, Regional and National pathways for our most talented athletes.
Through our 10 local School Sport & Physical Activity Networks (SSPANs), Levels 1 and 2 are delivered across 10 partnership areas within Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, by School Games Organisers (SGOs).
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) deliver on the Level 3 offer, organising and delivering a calendar of County Finals throughout the year in the form of School Games Super-Series Finals and School Games Championships.
