Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games Super-Series Final
Primary Sportshall Athletics – Year 5/6
Bushloe High School (Oadby & Wigston) were crowned Champions at the Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games Sportshall Athletics Super-Series Finals, which took place at Beauchamp College on 25th November.
All 10 partnership teams competed in the Year 5/6 Finals, and with over 200 children plus spectators, the atmosphere in the Sports Hall was incredible as the young athletes competed in a variety of events!
Badgerbrook Primary School (Blaby & Harborough) took 2nd place, with Holywell Primary School (North Charnwood) securing 3rd place. The ‘Spirit of the Games’ was awarded to Stokes Wood Primary School (West Leicester) as they fully demonstrated the values in which the “School Games” represents – Determination, Honesty, Passion, Respect, Self-Belief and Teamwork.
Dan West, who has represented Great Britain in five Paralympic Games in the Shot Put, came along to the event to present the awards and took part in a question and answer session once the events had been completed. The young athletes quizzed Dan on what it was like to represent Great Britain, how he dealt with his nerves, and whether he would be attending Rio 2016.
