KS3 & KS4 Boys & Girls School Games Super-Series Finals

Last week saw Babington Community College play host to a 4 days of high quality Badminton Super-Series Finals. Oadby & Wigston took home both of the Girls Gold’s’, and North Charnwood were victorious in both of the Boys events!

The first evening saw Bushloe High School (Oadby & Wigston) take home the Gold Medal in the Key Stage 3 Girls event, with Leicester High School (East Leicester) taking home Silver and De Lisle College (North Charnwood) finishing in third.

It was Beauchamp College from Oadby & Wigston that were crowned Champions in the Key Stage 4 Girls event, with Leicester High School (East Leicester) once again having to settle for Silver Medal. John Cleveland College (Hinckley & Bosworth) beat Uppingham Community College (Rutland) in the third place playoff to take home Bronze.

The Key Stage 3 Boys event saw an all Charnwood final as Loughborough Grammar School (North Charnwood) and Martin High School (South Charnwood) battled it out in some very close games, with two finishing 21-20. It was North Charnwood thatcame out on top with Loughborough Grammar School taking home the Gold, leaving Martin High School with the Silver. Bronze medal went to Bushloe High School (Oadby & Wigston).

Loughborough Grammar School (North Charnwood) were also crowned Champions in the Key Stage 4 Boys Event, beating Beauchamp College (Oadby & Wigston) in the Final. Bosworth Academy (Hinckley & Bosworth) took home the Bronze.

All the teams also compete for the ‘Spirit of the Games’ Award, which is awarded to the team who most encompasses the School Games Values of: Determination, Honesty, Passion, Respect, Self-Belief and Teamwork. The winners were.

The Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sainsbury’s School Games is open to all young people aged 5-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds in every school from across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
It provides schools with the chance to boost their existing work in school sport to create a year-round calendar of competition for all students and provides County, Regional and National pathways for our most talented athletes.

Through our 10 local School Sport & Physical Activity Networks (SSPANs), Levels 1 and 2 are delivered across 10 partnership areas within Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, by School Games Organisers (SGOs).
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) deliver on the Level 3 offer, organising and delivering a calendar of County Finals throughout the year in the form of School Games Super-Series Finals and School Games Championships.
