Blaby’s local sporting superstars celebrate achievements with Olympic Athlete

Key players from the district’s sporting world have celebrated at this year’s Blaby Local Sports Alliance Awards with the help of Olympic pole vault athlete Kate Dennison.

The awards, which took place on Wednesday November 20 at Brockington College, Enderby, celebrated the sporting success of individuals and teams throughout the district.
They were a huge success with over 200 people in attendance and special guests included Kate Dennison, one of the British athletes in the London 2012 Olympic Games, and pro freestyle BMX rider Keelan Phillips.
Councillor David Clements, Corporate Services, Performance and Leisure portfolio holder at Blaby District Council, said: “These awards are not just about recognising those who compete, but also celebrate the volunteers who give up their spare time to coach or those that often go unnoticed, but work tirelessly behind the scenes to help a club run smoothly.
“The presence of Kate Dennison left the audience and local talent feeling inspired and gave the evening that extra special touch. Overall it was a great night and we are looking forward to the 2014 awards.”
